Lamar, this is a great speech, and a fitting choice for today’s final launch of the Space Shuttle program. For, not only does it mark a milestone for our country, but it shows what happens when government chooses to do great things. The computer I type on, the system that transmits this message, and much of the technology we take for granted today, are all a result in some way of our nation’s quest for the moon, and the planets, and the stars. JFK understood this, and our nation and this world are better today because of that.
