Late last night, I received a message from an anonymous someone (who called me a “f*****g retarded cripple;” one out of three ain’t bad) who, I assume, believed I intended to insult the Self family.
That’s idiotic. In no way did I intend, by re-posting something on one of the nation’s most popular humor blogs, to insult my neighbors. If you’re honestly insulted (and not simply interested in lobbing ad hominem, bigoted attacks), take it up with Fail Blog.
Then consider getting a life.
PS: The person also said I walked like one of “Jerry’s f*****g’s kids.” I don’t have muscular dystrophy. I have cerebral palsy.
As a child, I spent months in various hospitals with a handful of kids who suffered from MD, the vast majority of whom died at an early age. It’s heartbreaking. Children gradually losing their physical abilities. At the same time, one of my good friends from college was told he would probably die in his teenage years. Because of his tenacity and his access to quality health care and top-notch doctors, he is now a practicing lawyer in Houston.
This person’s comment about “Jerry’s kids” reinforced, to me, the importance of funding research for muscular dystrophy.
Wow….sorry to hear about the attack. I read it on Fail and knew that they meant it as a play on words…however, I took the opportunity to point out the historical significance of the cemetery (you know history buff and all)…Some people just are looking for a fight and are never pleased no matter what you say or do.
Lamar–this is Kelly Self, English teacher, and while I admit I was taken aback at seeing this at this point in my life, even I could see the humor in it (both as an English teacher AND as a Self!). So, keep on keepin on, and ignore the idiots!
So, when someone purporting to champion the Self family is publicly discredited by a member of the Self family, does it qualify as a Self-defense FAIL?
