Lamar, why am I hearing that Charles Johnson is going to be the City Attorney. I thought Roy had a list of 5 or 6 qualified names he was considering. I guess none of those guys were more qualified. I’m shocked and wonder why nobody saw that coming in the legal and local community. I can only presume that he will continue to be allowed to wear his earings to work. I’m sure Chuck will be happy with the pay increase. Who knows, it may work out great. (unhappy Roy supporter)
I new about Chuck weeks ago, but thought it was b.s. The two prior post are correct. It is a political move. So far this has been close to a joke. Change would have been nice. At least Brewer would have shaken things up. It appears Roy didn’t realize that he is not going to have many chances to make moves of his own. He just assured that a little more. We should have known this would happen.
lol you guys. yes some of mayor roy’s appointments so far are worthy of a raised eyebrow or two but its still awfully early to be throwing in the towel dont you think?
The problem is not just who was appointed. It is why they were appointed, which is the heartbreaking aspect of this. I was sold change and have not been pleased with what was bought. I’m actually considering moving. Oh, and I’m not laughing. I’m a young person who has a lot invested in this community and a lot to forfiet.
The swiftness with which people change their tune astounds me. A couple of weeks ago eveyone was excited about the prospect of Roy being the new mayor. Change! Moving forward! A fresh perspective! Now, Roy is not even fully out of the gate and those who were supporters have already become critics. It seems to me that ‘change’ to some simply meant getting rid of the blacks and replacing them with whites. Kay Michels is named (I will say at this point that I have nothing against her-simply an example) and the responses are “Shes hot!” (Well, Thank God we’ve got a ‘hot’ COO. I am sure that was on the top of her resume’.) Chuck Johnson is named and it is a ‘political favor’ and “Myron the puppetmaster still directing the scenes.”
Why is Johnson a political favor, but not Michels?

Do you even know Mr. Johnsons qualifications? Do you care? Isn’t your problem really just that Johnson is black? You say that ‘you can only presume’…THAT is the only accurate part of your statment-presumptions are th only thing you have driving your opinion. Elton Hubbard, US author, said The recipe for perpetual ignorance is: be satisfied with your opinions and content with your knowledge. So, don’t try to educate yourself (and others) with facts-be content with perpetuating your own ignorance by simply stating your presumptive opinion.

Charles Johnson is not the type of person who will be led by anyone. Neither is Jacques Roy. This was not a political favor, but a well thought out appointment by the man we elected to lead us. Could we possibly just give him a chance to do that? I am all for our right to speak our mind, as a matter of fact-I think it is our duty to do so. But ONLY after we have taken the time to educate ourselves with facts should we voice our opinion. So far, I have seen no facts from anyone.
I noticed this on Cenla Antics yesterday and thought it was a welcome invite for someone who enthusiasically supported the Roy appointments to tell us why they are a good idea. Clearly, if they are qualified by experience, education, and training, someone can fill in the blanks:
“concerned but optimistic said…” “Biff, are you saying that these are good guys and you like them or that they are particularly qualified for their appointments by training, experience, and education? Maybe you could tell us a little bit about them. With Mr. Crutchfield leaving, we are ending up with Sex Ed being taught by 8 year old virgins. We obviously opted for Roy’s brains over Smith’s experience but somebody’s got to know how to operate the elevator and where the toilets are.”
I don’t see anything based on race in the above comments. However, I myself I’m a white man. Maybe there is more to them than I see.
However, I posted a comment earlier today. It was not one of your two you attacked. I share some of the same sentiments of the attacked though. Not all of them, but some.
If I told you the below facts can I have an opinion?
Charles went to Southern for Law School.
He took the bar multiple times.
He worked as an ADA, and did primarily criminal work.
The position of City Attorney should be based on civil experience as the disputes which the City Attorney handles are primarily civil.
Can I have an opinion? please?
Charles could be great. It is way to early for the above comments. The post about Kay was stupid and your right, I’m sure that was not on her resume.
Chill out spino. I apoligize in advance if my comment seems offensive in anyway.
I hear Ken Juneau is still hanging around city hall.
Why on earth would Roy want him there?
Juneau actively campaigned against Roy– and then showed his lack of loyalty to Randolph by helping Brewer out during the run-off, when she was attacking Randolph’s legacy.
Also, someone said he was looking for a job with the Provosty firm.
Ken Juneau is under contract ($100,000.00 last year). Roy will have to dissolve the contract to get rid of him. Shouldn’t be hard seeing as thought he hasn’t done anything stated in his professioal service agreement.
So Hobbs becomes Mayor if Roy leaves office? Oh Joy!
Let’s make sure Mayor Roy stays healthy! Lord save us if he doesn’t. Everett Hobbs? What was the council thinking?
What they were thinking is “polical payback”.
Lord help us!! Hire Roy a driver, doctor and ex-Navy Seal bodyguard ASAP.
While there may be a change in the presiding mispronouncer, the directions still come from Myron – just like the lawyers.

Is it true that he’s staying on with Roy?
And how about that Tom Bonnette? Isn’t he doing a great job covering City Hall while Billy Gunn is away? And he’s good looking too.
Ken Juneau is under contract ($100,000.00 last year). Roy will have to dissolve the contract to get rid of him. Shouldn’t be hard seeing as thought he hasn’t done anything stated in his professioal service agreement.
How do I get a contract?
Firstly you have to fix your dick, then secondly you have to suck someone else’s.
I don’t have a dick but I have sucked quite a few of them and all it ever got me was very temporary gratitude. Who can I call for a city contract?
