  1. Expect the results to be posted around 8PM and then updated frequently. We’ll know who the new mayor is by 9.

  2. I was a little worried–I voted around 12:15 and there was absolutely no one in my precinct. So I just went ahead and did provisional ballots for a lot of my dead relatives and pets n’ stuff.

  3. I’ve heard some precints have been pretty busy, but others not so much. I’ve also been hearing about people (mainly elderly) having problems figuring out the new fancy shmancy touch screen voting machines, which isn’t that surprising.

    p.s. it’s jaCques

  4. Does anyone else besides me find it odd that one of Delores kids was working at the one of the polls today. Rugg in Particular

  5. Actually, it’s not that uncommon for relatives or friends to serve as poll watchers. Plus, candidates need several of them–so, it may be hard for some candidates to recruit enough of them.

  6. It is 100% OK for a candidate supporter to be at the polls. Jacques got his supporters at the polls as well.

  7. I want to go around wearing a big pig nose in honor of the best pig – Oink Oink Delores! She needs to just get out now to avoid the embarrassment!

I look forward to this evening’s victory! Jacques the Vote Alexandria!

  8. I really want to thank Lamar for the hard work he has done managing this site.It has been a real pleasure reading the blogs and seeing all of the smart and witty charcters we have in Alex.I think my wife thinks I have a girlfriend as much as she sees me reading the blog and probably thinking I am emailing an old lost girlfriend.
The polls at Nachman have been packed all day and thus I think Charles Park will have an exceptional turnout.Good luck candidates and let the best MAN win!

  9. Polls just closed- checked the results page, and they have absentee results up. Roy has 76% compared to Brewer’s 24%. Hellz yeah.

  10. Sec. of State shows that among the early voters, which I am assuming is what is being reported first, I was with the majority. Jacques 76% to Brewer 24%. So far so good.

  11. All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.

  12. Elitists Blue Blooods = Provosty, Brewer, and the Republican bankers, doctors and lawyers that (and only those) supported her.

  13. Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.

  14. Well…I thought that Brewers speech on KALB was very positive and hopeful for the future of Alexandria. We must all come together to move Alexandria forward in a postive way. I believe that Jacques addressed the same issue in his speech as well.

I’m happy to have been a part of this election though i wish more people would have turned out to vote. Now if i could just keep those darn people from dumping their trash by the alley.

    Congrats Jacques Roy!!

  15. For me, this election was never about being anti-Delores. Rather, it was all about the things Jacques stood for: strong leadership, smart growth, equality in all people, accessibility to goverment and so on. There is no need to celebrate the defeat of the Brewer campaign. Instead, we should celebrate what lies ahead – a promising future for the city of Alexandria.

  16. I\’m looking forward to the precinct by precinct analysis. It looks to me like Roy carried every last one of them, if you exclude C22, where no one voted. Way to go! I think three out of four people suggests a pretty significant mandate. Now that we\’ve all been pushing Mr. Roy to win, it\’s time to forget about Ms. Brewer and step into an oversight/watchdog role. Those are the shoes these blogs need to fill now. I\’d say the pressure on Jacques to perform should be pretty significant; so many people have their hopes in him and he is going to have to perform.

A problem that both national parties display is their willingness to put good politics ahead of good governance. There are no off years as far as campaigning is concerned. I don\’t believe that is as much an issue at the local level, but it\’s time to stop stumping and start running the city. Effective leadership that benefits the city should be the only campaigning necessary. I\’m probably preaching to the choir, but Delores is going to be a quick memory and Jacques will be sticking around for some time to come.

Keep up the GOOD work everyone, especially you Lamar.

I guess that makes you and your ilk elitist “red bloods”. I am in one of the mentioned professions and would not have voted for either candidate as they both seem like rather weak candidates.
