LiveBlogging the Mayoral Debate…err…Conversation!

Here’s the deal: Tonight at 6PM CST, NewsChannel Five (KALB) will be broadcasting a conversation with the two mayoral candidates, Delores Brewer and Jacques Roy.

Out here in the blogosphere, we will be reacting in real-time. Blast them, lampoon them, love them, praise them, question them, say what you want right here on CenLamar.

  1. I wish KALB had a streaming broadcast. De TV is being used for an educational endeavor. Ya’ll please post a blow by blow account. Wait, I really meant a learned, thoughtful response by learned, thoughtful response.

  2. I hope someone has the foresight to ask each of them what their plans are to support youth sports in our fair city: especially those youth that live in homes that are below the poverty level.

  3. the utility fiasco is the fault of the council (for punting-like usual. I would love to see them make a decision that actually benefits the citizens), but there is also fault at the admin level…ned should have stepped up…

  4. NOw their talking about crime, Add more Police. But neither said what the police should be doing? I think the person above had it right. The City need more funds for youth sports (equipment, transportation, coaches, programs). If a child is busy try to win a ball game they don’t have tiem to break into your car!

  5. Ok people, am I the only one in this town that thinks Delores has lost her freaking mind?? I think the campaign in general is f…ed up and she is just a cheap, lower class, indecisive woman that doesn’t know a thing about politics, this city much less what this city needs to “protect” the people or even what is in the best interest(s) because she could give a rats butt!! I am not support either of the canidates because I feel neither of them should get the job but with all do respect for what we have Roy at least knows what’s going on in this city and HELLO does she not read paperwork???? I think this is too funny but scary to say the least, especially if DB gets the job….look out Cenla and you better hold on for the ride!!!! This city will NEVER be the same….
As for the b.s. stunt with the Soccer Association and the Zoo, I along with many other fellow citizens feel she bribed these people to still these mailing lists for her!!!! It’s crazy if you think about it. I mean what person in their right mind would hand out a mailing list for MINORS with all of the sexual predators we have in this town???? HELLO PEOPLE we have something like 26 or 27 just in Cenla, if not more!!!! My family and I received a letter and the people that sent it for Delores (if not herself) weren’t even smart enough to know that McKeithen Dr. is NOT in the city limits so therefore they can not vote…. DUH but then again that doesn’t surprise me seeings how she has to studder and fumble for an answer to these questions because she simply DOES NOT know the answer. Well duh she wants to get more APD is it just me or didn’t Darren just have a write up in the paper about trying to get that done????
As for her b.s. commercials, huh…. Not saying she hasn’t but from my previous experience and knowledge of many people that have been raped and molested, they would NEVER get on tv and broadcast it much less us something like that to “win” votes. It takes time and lots of counseling and most people never do talk about those things. As for the “pig” commercial, I viewed it this morning sitting at my desk, being my first time seeing it, I busted out laughing when it came to the pic of Roy. Once again, am I the only one that thinks she is pathetic and needs serious counseling, medication, and needs to get a life???? Sorry to be so blunt guys but gosh….

  6. well, her reference to alternative energy sources makes me wonder if she has been talking with willie about that biodiesel and hitting the bong….that would explain alot regarding her recent behavior…

  8. If Ranson knows he can’t be COS why in hell is Delores using his name. It makes me glad I don’t bank with him. And why in hell would he back a loser so hard now.

  9. I am glad this is almost over. Delores I had one of your punk kids on his huffy leave a letter of how you did such a great job with the zoo. If that is the case why does it lose 500,000 a year. The next kid I see in my yard with your info on it I will kick their ass.

  10. we need to decide, do we want bus service or cheap utility bills.

the city does NOT buy all its power from CLECO. I thought Delores worked for the mayor, how does she not know this small fact??

  11. Actually the acronym is CLEDA – Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance – it’s now a nine parish regional group – formed by the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce. But get this – only the players in Rapides Parish put $$$ into and gues who puts the most (next to the Chamber’s private donations)?

ACCED is linked to Bo Curtis’ district boundaries.

GAEDA is Alexandria’s group set up by Charlie DeWitt that primarily focuses on tourist related industry growth, downtown development and community development.

CAPS is another regional group formed by the Rapides Foundation at the request of Chamber naysayers and those who wanted to be in control.

Kisatchie Delta is the planning district – they cannot actively recruit business, but support existing businesses.

Central LA incubator focuses on start-ups and entrepeneurship, they were founded by the Alexandria Metropolitan Foundation.

The Central Louisiana Business League primarily is a business organization for minority owned businesses, but accepts all businesses as members.

What’s missing is coordination of the efforts on behalf of the City of Alexandria. All of these groups are attempting to steer the ship.

  12. Just watched recorded playback of “Conversation”. Is it just me, or did anyone else think DBs last comment sounded like a request for a position in the future Roy administration?

  13. The sad thing about Delores is that if she would have dropped out after the primary and asked Jacques for a job he might have considered it. But now she has shown her true colors. Who in their right mind would hire such a nut case. I need someone to gut my deer. Delores?
