Police Chiefs Continue to Be Arrested in Rapid Succession
The AP is reporting that Ville Platte Police Chief Louis Dale Marcantel has been arrested and charged with molestation of a teenage family member. The alleged molestation occured more than ten years ago, and the woman has only recently come forward. Marcantel denies these charges.
Marcantel is the sixth Louisiana police chief (or assistant police chief) arrested during the past eleven months. Here’s the breakdown (Source: The Town Talk):
Jena’s police chief, George King, is free on $20,000 bond after being arrested Oct. 3 on a perjury charge. He is accused of lying in a drug case.
Gregg McKinney resigned as Delhi’s police chief on Sept. 20, after pleading guilty to setting fire to his own office and two other felonies. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, the maximum possible under his plea bargain.
St. Gabriel’s former assistant chief, Lawrence B. Williams Jr., pleaded guilty in May to a federal charge of using his teenage son’s Social Security number to apply for a car loan.
Former Opelousas Police Chief Larry Caillier pleaded guilty in May to a federal fraud charge stemming from the misuse of money intended to provide extra patrols for high-crime areas.
Lutcher’s former chief, Corey Pittman, pleaded guilty in December to drug charges. He had been caught on videotape selling crack cocaine to an undercover agent.

With the upcoming Sheriffs race here in Rapides we may see some more arrest, but this time on the Sheriff side of the fence.
sounds like you have a large secret
All depends on the other side making the first move at telling lies and slinging mud.I’ld like to see it stay clean but one canidate doesn’t have a clean bone in his body.
If that’s the case, I can add a lil something, too. A few months back on your Rambler site, I blogged about your comments referring to the owners of a certain club in town being allowed to keep the club open out on Vandenburg Drive (Retro). I told you then that most of the TT story was incorrect and the police had screwed up, and the paper reported falsehoods. Now I have been vindicated by the courts. Just this week the weapons that were illegally seized were returned to the Doublets. Of course, they didn’t get back several boxes of expensive ammunition that were taken, nor has the money been returned that was taken, but I’m sure that will be remedied soon, too. All that remains now is the question of where the news cameras and reporters were when the wepons were returned? Seems like the powers that be (read: Slocum and Co.) didn’t want to publicly admit that they were wrong. Too bad the circus only comes to town when they are right. Ooops. And just before an election year. Hate that for them.
Iknowsomething may think he knows something but I have it from a reliable source that Slooocum and co. have made a 30 sec video or tv ad that tries to put Bill Robinson
as the bad guy in a chewing out he gave Tommy Carnline the last year he was in office. Something about being mean to a poor handicaped guy. This is the same guy who claims he’s not handicaped and can do anything anybody else can and is even a full fledged member of the RPSO SWAT team, but he can’t take a chewing out when he screws up.All of a sudden he’s handicaped and being picked on.Slocum is not supposed to know anything about it(he can’t say he doesn’t know now). The mud is being prepared in the Solcum camp now. They will not campaign clean you can bet on that.
The Slocum camp?? Isn’t that where the 3000 person fish fry dinner was??? Just curious.
anonymous 2:58–Yep thats the one alright.
UDONTKNOWJACK- I just read your comment on the Tod blog. Sounds like someone hit the nail on the head when they named you.
