A Special Kudos to Roosevelt Johnson

The result are now official, and Roosevelt Johnson missed the run-off by a mere seventeen votes.

As a community, we should all be proud of the campaign waged by Mr. Johnson. When asked about his greatest campaign contributors at a mayoral forum, Mr. Johnson replied simply, “My shoes.” And he wasn’t being coy.

Throughout the past two months, Mr. Johnson made it his mission to knock on the door of every single home in Alexandria. I’m not sure if he succeeded, but he definitely came close.

I think it’s commendable. It’s a testament to how much Mr. Johnson cares about our city and its people.

  1. Thanks for posting this Lamar. Roosevelt ran a great positive campaign. I’m glad he’s still able to serve us in the council.

  2. roosevelt knocked on my door. i talked to him for a little bit. thought he was running for the right reasons, just not the right person at the right time.

nice guy and a good councilman.

  3. Congratulations, Roosevelt for a great, positive campaign. I enjoyed talking to you when you knocked on my door. Please continue to do the wonderful job you have been doing on the city council. We need good people like you to serve in city government.

  4. The next mayor will need Roosevelt Johnson’s help. I know that Mr. Johnson will do all that he can to support the next administration.
    Congratulations, Roosevelt.

  5. Good job Roosevelt.

Seventeen votes is a heartbreaker— but hopefully you can take comfort in the fact that you earned the respect and admiration of thousands of people in our city.

  6. Boooowhooo, Heartbreaker, he so nice. Give me a break people yes Roosevelt is nice. Nice at taking pictures. But do we really need a camera man as our next mayor. Roosevelt worked hard but he is still a councilman which is the highest office I ever want him to hold.I couldn’t take our next mayor refering to himself in third person every day.

  7. Bloodbrother, I have never laughed so hard. I agree! Rosevelt Johnson said “Rosevelt Johnson ran a great campaign!”

  8. Just imagine Roosevelt talking to the head of union tank car. Roosevelt Johnson needs union tank car. He would be a great Saturday night live sketch (the third person mayor). And I am right and you know.

  9. If I were Roy I’d be courting Roosevelt and his supporters right away. DB is busy doing that right now. Plus Fuller and CFS, too.

  10. Mr. Johnson showed some real class today by annoucing he thought it was time to move on. He could have easily filed a law suit challenging the results of Saturday’s election. He has taken the “high road” and saved the citizens of Alexandria much grief. Thank you, Mr. Johnson!

  11. What is the name and address of Morgan’s blog?

    “I steal signs”
    “Punk criminal kids of WASPs”
    “Turds-r-us”

  12. Someone on Cenla Antics said DB may be meeting with Roy Fletcher (aka “Hatchet Man”). I hear that it is happening on Friday and “the firm” is willing to pony up $300 grand to help out. That would really ruin the “keepin’ it clean” motto wouldn’t it? Talk about your slippery slope.

  13. Even if the Provosty firm is willing to ante up big money, how could it legally give her that much? If $2,500 per lawyer in that firm were given, that doesn’t = $300 grand.

  14. DB is pissin’ in the wind and it’s blowin on all her friends. What she’s doing to lead on supporters and family is not admirable. This is not the path to redemption. The real path to it would be to assume the role of stateswoman and answer those charges and bow out at the same time. She should stop allowing herself to be used by people who have a financial interest in making sure they can control the mayor’s office. They have nothing to lose in insisting that she stay in the race. But she and her family have everything to lose. She should salvage her reputation and and go live the rest of her life.

well…..$2500 per lawyer, $2500 per lawyer’s wife, $2500 per lawyer’s secretary, $2500 per lawyer’s paralegal, $2500 per runner, you do the math. They can help her raise the rest.

  16. Oh, you think they’ll give it from every staffer and spouse. Wow, that would make an interesting news story if it happened that way. I’m not sure voters would like that. In fact, a great potential TV commercial for Roy if you ask me.

My dream was for this town to have a “slippery slope”. If Delores is going to make it happen, then I will turn to the dark side.

  18. My dream is to have the candidates do a smack down in a mud puddle at the bottom of the slippery slope. Let’s get this crap over with already.

  19. Good authority: The slope cometh…….
Get ready to incur a half cent sales tax to pay for it. Then when it’s finished, there’ll be a forty cent sales tax to pay the premuims on the liability policy.

  20. I’m thinkin that the firm has done it’s handicapping and realizes that it would be $$$$ down a rathole. They need to try to make a treaty with Roy and let Delores swing slowly in the wind. They are big-time users.

  21. If Brewer raises some money and then decides to bow out can she keep it to pay herself back for what she loaned her campaign or does she have to return it? I know elected officials can keep campaign war chests, but anyone know what would happen in this situation? Are there ethics commission rules that apply?

    You obviously don’t know Morgan.
What you do know isn’t much, and the little bit thats left over hasn’t taught you how to act.

  23. Morgan doesn’t look permanently disabled. I’ve spoken with him and he appears to hear and comprehend just fine. Maybe you don’t know Morgan.
