  1. The only candidates who say they don’t want the TT’s endorsement are those who don’t get the endorsement. But I do agree that the TT sometimes fails to pick the winners. So, it’s certainly not fatal to get or not get the endorsement. Too bad the TT didn’t do what Shreveport Times did…endorse 2 candidates for being most qualified–Glover and Jones. TT could have done Roy and Brewer.

  2. “Why would anyone take the advice of a “arrogant, self-serving, liberal” on how to vote?”

    Good point.

“the TT endorsement only cost gay coleman 5000 votes.”

Biff, certainly you don’t actually believe that. Patricia Koch won the election because she ran an incredible campaign (and perhaps, in part, because the race was crowded with candidates from the other party).

  3. Why doesnt ROY call a press conference and denounce the slandrous low life tactics of Delores Brewers campaign and demand that they cease the phone calls. I got 2 ..TWO..

  4. The town talk or what I refer to as the clown talk made one of the strongest endorsement I have seen with Jacques Roy. It is hard to argue the points made about Roy. Its a no brainer who will move our city in the right direction. Roy for mayor.

  5. If Roy calls such a press conference it would do more harm than good. That’s because he’d be repeating the negative information potentially to folks who didn’t know about it. He should only respond if she goes on TV with those charges.

  6. Does anyone know what Roy’s polling shows? Does anyone know if he’ll have another TV commercial or is the one running now it for the duration? Does anyone know if he’ll have another mail piece or a phone bank to get out vote? Poll watchers? I wanna be for him, but I need to know that he’s a serious contender. The TT alone ain’t gonna cut it.

  7. If you believe in him then vote for him. Push you junior high mentality aside for just one minute, make a decision, and stick with it. “I wanna be for him….(only if he is going to win)I bet you only wanted to hang around with the cool kids in junior high. This isn’t a popularity contest.

  8. Actually, it is a form of a popularity contest. Furthermore, I have the right to ask questions, take a look at each candidate and make an informed decision.

  9. Why would your candidate need to resort to this type of tactic in order to try and garner votes. Is it because he can’t win on his own? Most of the candidates are out there pounding the pavement and convincing people they are the best candidate. Your candidate is “lurking in the dark shadows” snooping for any type of dirt he can find just trying make a little headway. Your average citizen doesn’t take kindly to this type of dirty campaign.

  10. Give ME a break Biff. Roy started this “dirty push poll” nonsense a few weeks ago and then denied that his campaign had anything to do with it via Lamar. Then, it comes out he had hired an out of state group for polling. This has all the markings of a dirty campaign push with him trying to deny being a part of it. Don’t try to put this off on Delores. Remember, one has to be careful about this type of strategy. It has a habit of coming back to haunt you.

  11. scarlett? am i reading your correctly. it’s actually roy doing the push poll asking if they would vote for a personal injury lawyer that files suits against the city? say it ain’t so!

  12. So Scarlett are you saying that IF we were to see those things that Delores wants hidden that it would result in more people NOT voting for her??….

  13. i got the push poll call and there was one question about jacques roy representing someone against the police department. i forget how it was worded, but it made roy look really bad. so i asked my lawyer friend what he knew about this case.

jacques roy represented a former employee of the police department who had aids. this employee was arrested for theft and while in jail, they were refused their aids medication. that’s why jacques roy represented this person… so they could get their medicine.

the poll jacques roy paid for asked questions about ethics violations and the housing authority, questions i believe still haven’t been answered by brewer.

  14. To the anon poster who wanted to know what Jacques Roy would do as far as commercials, poll watchers, etc.

Yes there will be other commercials, plus phone banks to get the vote out, poll watchers, etc. If you want to be a part of the campaign, call Tanya at 487-9537. There will be a volunteer meeting this afternoon.

  15. what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. roy used negative statements about delores first in his poll, then her pollster did it to him. why is it OK for roy but not for delores? unless that was roy himself on the blog, (explaining one case) he has not explained all of these lawsuits against the city and the cops. mr roy is not in a good mood this week–not his usual friendly self. could it be that he knows the beck request for delores’ e-mails points right to him? could he realize that this makes him look as small (no pun intended) as the sign debacle did?

  16. Golly, Mr. Real check sure knows alot of stuff. I guess it is true, because he took the time to type it. Sounds like alot of “honking” going on in the background with all those geese.
Damn, You guys are going to make me jump on the “Hammond Hayride” and ride it all the way to city hall.
With a stop at the waterslide, of course.

  17. Mr. Real check,

Were you actually yelling when you typed that, because I think… I actually heard it. I thought it was my imagination. (or a spooky “Hammond supporting” ghost) Thanks for making me realize that I will be helping Ms. Brewer. You make me feel like a million city contract dollars.

  18. Waterslide:
Actually, you would be helping both Brewer and Roy if you were to vote for Hammond.
BTW, do you call yourself waterslide because you either are or support Mr. Fuller? Just wondering.

  19. I will support any candidate who will help Alexandria evolve. If that candidate is Mr. Fuller, then I can look forward to a waterslide run by a pack of New Orleans Ho’s. I would definely call that evolution from the way our city is run now.

BTW, do you call yourself Mr. Reality Check because you are or have a small penis?

  20. waterslide:
no, i calls myself mr. reality check becuz i speaks da truth. let me hear ya say amen, my brother from another mother.

  21. JR told me two weeks ago he did not see the TT endorsement in a good light for whoever gets it…something about the kiss of death…now how does he feel?

  22. i don’t claim to know much, except about how to get picked up off the street corner– but seems to me that voting for Hammond would only help Hammond and hurt the other black candidates. you whities got a thang for Red?

    Republican Frontrunner For Alexandria Mayor

The mayor’s race in Alexandria could wind up like the primary in Shreveport, with a Republican leading a black Democrat into the runoff.

With the business community firmly behind her, Delores Brewer is touting her own wide lead over Roosevelt Johnson in a Verne Kennedy poll she commissioned. The campaign did not release numbers, but an earlier Kennedy poll showed her leading Johnson, 38-17 percent, with no other candidate in double figures.

Brewer, on leave as chief of staff for Mayor Ned Randolph, benefits from timing: hers good and Jacques Roy’s bad. Roy, the only white Democrat in the race, missed out on a lot of support when he did not declare his candidacy until the day before qualifying.

Johnson emerged as the leading Democrat when Police Juror Joe Fuller, another late starter, failed to get traction.

The latest campaign finance report showed Brewer outspending Johnson, 10-1.

  24. That darn Chuck “dirty” Sanchez. He shouldn’t have a website that shows something that is true. Why can’t we just keep hiding stuff from everyone. I am truly ashamed.

  25. And shame on Jacques, for trying to bring out the truth. Can’t we just sit back, pretend like nothing is happening, and just see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil. I don’t want to know the facts. I want smoke blown up my ass. The truth is really scary. I am going to just hide and wait until this stuff blows over. I advise everyone to do the same.

  26. I WAS going to vote for Roy, but that negative mail out that I got today, from him, made me change my mind.

I already knew what Delores did, but that very negative mailout makes him look desperate. Mudslinging is rude. I don’t think that mailout helped him at ALL.

  27. Granted, Jacque’s mailer is base and irresponsible and is sure cost him a few votes. Now THE QUESTION IS, just how long can Delores keep her head above the mud??? 24 hours?? 2 days???
Hopefully, she won’t contribute to the moral decline of this campaign. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
You know the good thing though…no one is talking about John Sams anymore!

  28. How else will the truth be told if not through those mail outs? I work full time and have two small children. I know I am not keeping myself as informed as I should be, but I was unaware of the lying or “mis-speaks” until now. Any other Delores dishonesty I should know about?….just asking.

  29. All I know is this – I keep getting mailers from the Brewer camp about she has a plan for this and that. The latest on has to do with Cleaning up Alexandria. Now, as the Capital Projects Director for how ever many years and then Chief of Staff for numerous months, I have to ask – WHY DIDN’T SHE SUGGEST SOMETHING THEN?????

She’s been part of the administration, she saw the problems. She could have been part of the solution for the past 8 years? Where was she????? Getting her hair dyed and a pedicure on City time?
