  1. hurt himself in paper today…looked like the boy who cried wolf…also has tried to paint himself as an insider when he is really the legacy of all that is an insider…Plus I think he is a trial lawyer base on his ad in the phone book…looked like an ambulance chaser…don’t take my word for it..see for yourself…

  2. You’re right. We shouldn’t vote for someone whose brother’s law firm advertises in the phone book, and we definitely don’t want a mayor who would file a police report after $1,000 worth of his signs went missing.

It would almost be like having someone who understands business and respects the law.

  3. Jacques Roy’s picture is right there alongside his brother’s. The address is the same. There is no statement releasing him from the advertisement. Anyone looking at that ad would consider him as a Personal Injury lawyer.

  4. Jacques Roy is a good speaker. It was a tactical error to make a big deal of the yard sign thefts. Who is advising him? Thought the Roy’s were more politically seasoned than that.
Young Roy got in the race late, and will have to work hard to catch up. And he would have to spend BIG bucks on TV and radio to pull off knocking out Delores Brewer from getting in the run off with the the likely black frontrunner, Roosevelt Johnson. She’s had a head start and has money. Maybe this is Jacques’ practice run for later…he just might make it the next time.

  5. Right. Who cares about his vision for Alexandria? Who cares that he’s in this race for all of the right reasons? You’ve invented this notion of Jacques (someone you OBVIOUSLY don’t know…or if you do, you’re purposely lying about his professional career) as a “trial lawyer.”

Nothing more than a weak rhetorical device aimed at dissuading the very few of us who operate only in stereotype and innuendo.

  6. Thank you for your reply and your confession. Your 12 steps in dumbasses anonymous are almost complete. Now go hug your sponsor, he will be proud of you. I know that I am.

  7. Jacques is not a member of the Louisiana Trial Lawyer’s Association, as I have stated in the past, but really, that’s not even the point. The notion that you can stereotype an entire profession based on the misbehavior of a small minority is baffling. It’d be like assuming that Dr. Sams actively and willingly practices bad medicine. No one is going to make that claim. It would be ridiculous.

To get to the bottom of it, “trial lawyer” is a political rhetorical device, brought to you by large insurance companies. Curiously, any lawyer who represents a client (despite the merits of the case) against an insurance company is a trial lawyer, yet the lawyers who defend insurance companies are exempt from this title.

Wake up! The term “trial lawyer,” particularly when used in political elections, is a scare tactic paid for and brought to you by entrenched big businesses.

In the past, most lawyers dealt with a variety of different cases, but now, lawyers specialize in types of law. If you even did a cursory review of the cases Jacques has handled, you’d find that he is the polar opposite of an ambulance chaser. Moreover, Jacques is one of the main reasons we know what we do about Cleco’s improprieties, and to that end, he’s already demonstrated a willingness to hold others accountable when their actions are not in the public’s best interest.

Remember, Mayor Randolph is also a lawyer, as are most of our national political officials. Why? Because lawyers know the law— and that is PRECISELY what we need at this juncture, someone who understands the law and is willing to hold others acccountable.

This is yet another weak attempt by Jacques’ opponents to paint him as something he is not. Believe me, it won’t stick, because it just isn’t true.

  8. it won’t stick?? have you checked the new yellow pages. it’s there in black and yellow, in print put there and paid for by roy. he chases car wrecks. fact.

  9. I agree with Lamar. It’d be one thing if Tommy Wahlder was running for mayor. (No offense Tommy).

I know Jacques, and I know the kind of work he has done both for his clients and for our community, and you’re just wrong.

So what if his law firm handles cases from clients with a legitimate grievance against an insurance company?

Ambulance chasers are people who take any case against an insurance company, regardless of its merits.

A picture of a car wreck in a phone book advertisement is not any indication of the cases Jacques takes; it’s just a way of telling people that his firm, among other things, works with people who have been injured and need representation.

Have you ever tried dealing with an insurance company on your own? It can be very confusing and laborious, and for many people, the need to access resources for medicine and treatment is immediate. Good people with legitimate needs.

As a lawyer, Jacques has to hold himself to extremely high ethical standards, and I know these standards will be maintained when he becomes our next mayor.

  10. I am not sure that I am comfortable voting for someone whose campaign finance report was partially filled in by hand. I would hope that someone as young as ROY knows how to use one of those magic computing machines. Maybe Lamar can help him.

  11. harold chambers is his campaign mamager, chales nunnaly is his attorney, bridgett brown his favorite, if you want them vote for him

  12. phone book ad is killing his campaign…ambulance chaser is all he is and he knows it…on his push card he says he does family law…yeah right…check the phone book ad…straight out of ambulance chasing 101.

  13. Anon, please call your sponsor. Put down your copy of “Ambulance chasing 101”. You are definitely having a massive dumbass attack. You could injure yourself and have to call a trial lawyer.

Maybe you can look for help in the phone book ads. I’m sure there are some dumbass doctors in there.

  14. If you guys are so concerned about the cases Jacques takes, why don’t you go to the courthouse and look up his record? Why don’t you interview past clients and hear what they have to say?

  15. I am sure that Jacques is well able to defend himself and is making the same choice that I would and that is to not engage in a battle of wits with unarmed individuals.

  16. Roy is building more momentum than any other candidate. Positive campaign. Lots of people working for him. Why? Because Alexandria wanted a clear alternative, and he is it. Stop running the trial lawyer bull; he is a lawyer and a good one, but more than that, he is a good young man, one that we will proud to represent us as mayor.

  17. Forget the trial lawyer stuff. The anonymous person who pointed out that Chambers and Nunnally have a role in Roy’s camp has posted the most important reasons citizens should not vote for him. I think he should promise those two will have no role in his administration.

  18. The “trial lawyer” haters in Alexandria may be found in abundance on the contributor list of Delores Brewer. They are old money types that have nothing to worry about except a wife/husband asking for a divorce (and cutting the assets in half) or a “trial lawyer” having the nerve to ask a jury to decide if their negligence caused someone injuries and damages. These people think they are above the law, and that is the principal reason for getting a whole new batch of people into office in our city government.

  19. I am so sick of the trial lawyer discussion. Everyone loves to hate lawyers until they need one. These same naysayers would be the first ones to pick up the phone and call an attorney if they or a loved one got injured due to negligence of a person or company. Anyone who is concerned about the issue of frivilous lawsuits should advocate for changes in state and federal law. In other words this is not an issue for a mayoral election. Come on, grow up. Stick to the real LOCAL issues.

  20. DB is slammin JR about it every day. Count on it being the nail in the coffin from her insiders. She is going to hit him at the debate with it mutliple times. She says she is leading in her poll. She just talked to a group of four or five and said she was up and Roy was second among WH.

  21. Jacques Roy is the best candidate for mayor, hands down.

If I could vote it would defineatly be for him. For the moron who said shame on him for having Harold Chambers then you are so wrong that you can’t tell your nose from your ass. Harold Chambers was screwed over by the council much less the mayor and has been under scrutiny for a long time, he has every right to be compensated for his betrayal. Why vote for any other person than Jacques or Delores? Why vote sams? He’s rude and would just use his title to seek revenge on his enemies, and Charles F. Smith is incomptent; why would anyone trust him to run our city?

On election day vote Jacques Roy, he’s young, qualified, not an ambulance chaser, just, and has solid morals.

  22. Oh and about the signs, i’m sure the only reason why he said the warrant issue, is because he obviously knew that it was kids, and trying to scare them. Did he even follow through with this? No. Get your facts together everyone knows kids steal signs, how would you feel if a bunch of kids stole over 100 of your campaign signs.
