Anonymous Tip: Watch Out for the Escapee

According to anonymous tip provided to CenLamar, KALB reported on an inmate who escaped from a half-way house on August 3rd; this report was filed approximately eleven days after the incident occured. The tipster asks the question: What was the delay in getting this information to the public? And is there any connection in the theft of a brand new Dodge Durango, first reported by the Town Talk? What’s the deal?

  1. The deal is somebody didn’t want to look bad (dropped the ball). The guy the escapee worked with every day (a deputy) went on vacation for two weeks. When he left he left a brand new Dodge Durango locked up in his shop with the keys in it.
The escapee walked off the day after the deputy went on vacation. He (escapee) got into the shop and drove off in the Durango leaving the shop and gate locked behind him. (how he did that is another story).Well no one checked the shop when the escapee went missing(why not?)so it was two weeks later when the deputy returned that he discovered the vehicle missing and some one put two and two together and figured out the escapee had the Durango. Ony after the Towntalk started asking questions did the dept admit some one had walked off and a vehicle was missing.11 days afer it happened.

  2. Is it the sheriff’s office durango? At least the schools are safe, since they have those SROs. I mean what would Alexandria Country Day do without a sheriff deputy there to direct traffic every day? I love taxes.

  3. Yea it was a brand new Sheriff dept Durango. I think they bought 3 new ones. Assistant warden got one,the sheriff’s guy friday(Tommy Bebee)got one and the third one was never given to anyone yet. That’s the one the escapee took.

  4. Someone I work with lives at Central and told me a story a couple of weeks ago about some guy breaking out, getting high on meth (which is what he was supposedly recovering from), breaking back into the home and jetting after he snagged his stuff.

Apparently stuff like this happens all the time, Lamar. The media here never reports it.

The thing is, at Central, when someone relapses, they’re asked to leave. Cops are rarely called out to pick em’ up because the suspect usually leaves before anyone can pick them up. This from the mouth of my source (the guy I work with).

Let it be known that my source does live in the facility and I’m just passin’ on the info. I don’t know for sure if it’s the same guy. I’m just making the point that I’m not surprised some recovering-something broke out of a halfway house and is on the loose, because apparently this happens often.

  5. Hate taxes? Why do we keep electing these democrats to office then??? Democrats never met a tax they didn’t like/raise. When are we going to learn?

  6. Right. The Republicans lately have done SUCH a tremendous job. It’s not like they control the Presidency, the Congress, and the Supreme Court. Oh wait… they do!

The real question is: Why do we keep electing Republicans in office?

Ten years ago, America wasn’t engaged in a war on false pretenses, we had the support and RESPECT of the world community (See also: credibility), our economy was booming, and crime was on the steady decline. We also were projecting a $2 TRILLION DOLLAR SURPLUS.

Then, the Republicans go after Clinton on some stupid stained dress crime, retake the Congress on a platform of mainstream morality (See also: professional gambler and moralist William Bennnett), the Republicans then retake the presidency four years later by a single Supreme Court vote (See also: 2000 popular vote, the United States Supreme Court, Florida recount methods, and Katherine Harris). They immediately vote for tax “cuts” that overwhelmingly benefit the wealthy, at the expense of programs and services that the lower and middle class now must pay for out of pocket, creating an additional burden on their budgets. But hey, that’s OKAY, because Republicans are MORAL. Unlike those heathen LIBERALS, they’re the only party in America who believes in God, and they constantly remind working class Americans of their incredible faith: they decide to run on issues like gay marriage, abortion, stem cell research, and flag burning because that’s what’s really important right now. Right? Those are DEFINITELY the issues we need to be legislating against, right? Who cares what anyone else thinks? What do you mean “It’s the economy, stupid?” No, it’s not. It’s embryonic stem cells. It’s John McCain (a MEMBER of their OWN party) having black babies (Rove’s words, not mine).

That leads us here. We’ve lost 2,500 young American men and women in Iraq, and we’re still not sure where the weapons of mass destruction are. Even if you were to buy the argument that this is all about oil, guess what? We’re paying more for gasoline than EVER BEFORE. As powerful as they are, they couldn’t even lower gas prices. Them again, why would they? Their big money is oil money. It’s in their best interest to make oil companies more profitable.

But all is forgiven. Because we’re God’s country, and in a democracy, it’s not healthy to question a President or a war. Our economy isn’t growing; it’s remaining static, as the rich get rich and the poor stay poor.

I say this all, and guess what? I’m what you’d call a fiscal conservative. I believe in the power of the free market. I believe in the unlimited capabilities of capitalism. I also recognize that in a free market (where only the strong survive), it is the OBLIGATION of our government to provide a safety net for those who simply can’t make it– the elderly, the disabled, and yes, young single mothers who don’t have anyone one else to rely on. Sure, I think these programs can be (and often are) exploited, but it doesn’t mean they have to be.

Furthermore, back to the Vietnam War and the notion that the protestors weakened our defenses, BULLSHIT. The protestors didn’t make a difference at all. When was the Summer of Love? 1967. When did we pull out of Vietnam? 1975! Who was president in 1975? Gerald Ford! A republican! Why? Because Nixon had to resign. Why? Because he attempted to cheat and steal his way back to the White House.

Oh, and Carter, an internationally-recognized servant of peace and goodwill, is somehow a pussy in your eyes. No matter what the facts ARE, you’ll disagree that Carter did anything to build up our military, because, in your limited view, you’ve equated peace and goodwill with weakness.

  7. Where does one start??? First of all, I think you need to relax a little. You sound as if you’re about to blow a gasket. How many times do you want a recount in Florida? Get over it. George Bush won the election. He may not have gotten the majority of popular votes, but the law of the land says the electoral college decides. If you don’t like that, change the law. You need to check your facts. I believe the Republicans acquired a majority in Congress two years after Clinton was elected. Do you think they might deserve credit for many of the successes during his presidency? They were certainly responsible for the positive changes in the Welfare Act. I think Clinton vetoed that bill a couple of times before finally realizing the wind was blowing in that direction. And anytime ANYONE, especially the Republicans, tries to clean up the fraud in Welfare, Food STamps, School Lunch Programs etc., they are accused of being heartless, evil men trying to exploit the poor and the elderly. The Dems screamed bloody murder when G. W. tried to clean up Social Security saying it’s not necessary right now. Now….they are all over it. I believe the “stain” on the dress was a little more than just a “stupid crime”. Clinton lied under oath. He didn’t have to do that. That is just his character. I don’t know about you, but I get a little nauseated thinking about my President fooling around in the Oval Office (literally) while he’s “solving the problems of the world”. Get a hotel room for God’s sake. He was very fortunate to have come into office just as the internet craze was taking off in our country. Dot com companies were making a fortune without having any substance to back them up. When they began to fail, his terms were up. And, the ten years ago thing….that was before 9/11. Everything changed with that fateful day. Had Clinton paid more attention to terrorist attacks in our country and around the world, I truly believe it may have been avoided. But, they are here to stay now. Our President’s goal as a leader cannot be to be the most popular in the world. He is responsible for keeping us safe first and foremost. I agree that a # of conservatives are off the mark right now. They are supporting too many programs and not paying attention to the borders. However, when considering the alternative, I will proudly remain a conservative.

  8. The escapee and the Durango are still missing. At least they haven’t said he has been caught, but they never said he escaped either till someone told the media.

  9. Realist? Where were you during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s while terrorists were attacking our interests around the world? And by the way, the U.S. pulled our combat troops out of Vietnam in 1972 when the democrats complained he (Nixon) was taking too long to end the war.

Perception is reality in the Arab world. We have been perceived by them to be weak. Pulling out of Vietnam, Mogadishu, Beirut, and other places. I don’t give RR high marks either for that fiasco in Beirut, but Carter and Clinton failed miserably at foreign policy. Arabs don’t appreciate the nuances of polite talk and peaceful negotiation; they perceive it as WEAKNESS. Please tell me when we had love and respect all over the world in the 90’s! You must be in a dream world! Most of the attacks by terrorists were during the 90’s. They even perceived the first Gulf War as weakness because we pulled out before the real job was done. We left a madman in power for shit sakes. Perception is reality to an Arab.

I’m also disappointed in W’s fiscal approach in that he’s grown the budget and failed to protect the borders but he’s done the right thing in taking the fight to the terrorists rather than appearing weak. To get things done in Washington you have to bite lots of bullets on things you dislike and I’m sure that’s why lots of things get passed that we don’t like.

  10. Now they’ve had a breakin last week-end at their old shop. Same one the Durango was stolen from. Some tires and radios(police)are missing..Sure are quiet about it.

  11. Now that another one has walked off from work release they decide to announce this one. Still no updates or info on the guy that left and took a Durango with him.
It may be in Mexico by now..
