  1. Lamar, It has been interesting to watch the evolution of our local blogs and I want to thank you for the initiative that you have taken to develop this avenue of expression. Hopefully people are talking amongst themselves and beginning to wake up to what is really happening in our community. Thanks

  2. Hey Spanky,

Since we’re in a giving mood, thank you for being a steady voice of witty, creative commentary. There’s a reason people enjoy your character.

I appreciate your comments. The blog definitely had some birth pains, but I think people may be catching on to its true intent.

That said, I want to make it clear to people that I am more than willing to use this blog to showcase the stories and issues related to the mayor’s race that the mainstream media is afraid to tackle (although Mrs. Godard rocks. Billy, you rock too, MAN). And to that end, though I am supporting Jacques Roy, I will always welcome commentary and information from the other candidates. After all, this is a democracy, right?

  3. How can you say you are more than willing to showcase issues when you delete the controversial items you disagree with. We are not talking about threats, ranting, raving or uintimadating. We are talking about the free expression of a person’s thoughts most especially those concerning the racial issue.

Your liberal, juvenile bias has you thinking by hiding your head in the sand (deleting postings) the issue of racism will disapear. It will not and it is as much a formulative factor of a persons personality as any other factor. Alexandria has a racial problem – the Black politicians feathering their and their friends nest at the expense of the populace (populace race immaterial.) Alexandria has numerous Cynthia Mckinney’s yet you and your liberal “buddies” (and you know the meaning of a buddy) see this world thru Rose colored Glasses.

As long as you censure postings that do not agree with your philosphy this blog site will be a joke and well as your influence. I am not talking about deleting threatening postings, postings attacking family or those of that nature. I am speaking of a decently worded posting expressing one’s thoughts whether it agree with your thinking or not.

  4. I may not follow Lamar’s blog as closely as you do, but I have seen little evidence of censure. Have you looked in the archives section for the posts you are missing?

Lamar, nor any of us, need reminding that racism is not about to disappear, and you are living proof that it is indeed a formative part of personality. If you want to rail against corrupt politicians, have at it. Just consider removing race as your overarching theme. Name names if you have a substantive story to share, and we readers will make our own conclusions as to individual motivation.

  5. If you don’t follow it closely how do you know what has been deleted? How do you know any of your contentions (lack of names, susbstance, etc was not present? How do you know overt racism wasn’t substantiated? How in the hell do you know what your talking about if you don’t follow the blog closely? What happens if the post appears and is deleted before you are aware it was even posted?

Your comments are just a Lamar a** kissing.

You adjudge one to be a racist and race as the overarching theme but by your own admission don’t follow that closely which indicates your not totally aware of what has been posted and what has been deleted.

    What a waste of time.

  6. Whoa, hold on. When the rare occasion arises that Lamar does censor a comment, it’s with the intentions to keep everybody on the subject. Case and point: the Jimmy DeRamus article about rezoning and such. Someone made a very uncalled for comment about his daughter that had nothing to do with the issue at hand. So Lamar deleted it. AND!, just a diplomatically as he deleted unnecessary comments he left quit a few that crudely attacked and acutely praised Mr. DeRamus.

Don’t think that Lamar is not sympathetic to racial issues.

“Your LIBERAL, JUVENILE BIAS has you thinking by hiding your head in the sand (deleting postings) the issue of racism will disappear.” -anon

Is there something a bit discriminating about that comment, or is it just me.

Please think before you shoot off your angry banter and realize Lamar is one of those few people in Alexandria that want to make this city better and not just sit on their rear, complain, and do nothing.

  7. I would find it interesting to know what the participation rate on a racial basis is in regard to the several blogs that are operating in this area. It appears to me the black community is largely silent here and I would like to see greater participation. I would bet that we all have more in common in regard to local governmental issues than than we have issues that keep us divided. It is time to talk. I put my racial designation at the lower left as an example.

  8. The deletion was my response to Lamar’s “What Do You Think Of Our Candidates For Mayor?”. I espoused my thoughts relative to the racial overtunes of the present City Administration. A “White Girl” took great exception to the fact that I am a racist, a bigot, probably a prime descendent of former slave owners, etc, etc. My thoughts did not intimadate, there was no vulgarity, there3 was nothing objectionable from an grammer standpoint. No one was called a coon, a nigger or anything else. I used socially acceptable terminology. However because Lamar refuses to acknowledge racism is at work in city government my posting was deleted but thew little White Girls admonishing me for my ways was allowed to remain.

You need to be aware of the deleted posting in order to form an honest opinion. Deletion of postings of honest opinion that contain no negativity is censureship and biased.

  9. The funny thing is: I don’t even recall deleting any comments since the DeRamus debacle. If I did, it was by mistake.

  10. No need to send and e-mail and your apology is not sincere. Under the Roosevelt Johnson heading read what M posted and tell me what she is referring to. She was responding to my posting you deleted. Now I am sure it was indeed an accident to go in two days after it was posted, skip over numerous postings and delete that one.

As the fool above said (by the way how do you attrack these ignorant fools anyhow) it is your blog, do it your way. Just don’t try and appear neutral, fair and unbiased.

  11. It may seem disingenuous, but I honestly do not recall deleting a comment related to this topic. You’re more than welcome to express your opinions here, a right you’re continuing to exercise. I’m trying to locate the comment in question in my inbox, but I can’t seem to find anything worthy of deletion.

  12. lamar, i think there is a debate tonight between the mayoral candidates that will be televised on cable channel 4. you might want to inform your blog.

  13. Biff, thanks for the heads-up. I know Jacques is going to be there. Are all the candidates confirmed?

  14. Lamar,
Who is the “little white girl” this anon is referring to?

…”A “White Girl” took great exception to the fact that I am a racist, a bigot, probably a prime descendent of former slave owners, etc, etc.”…”I used socially acceptable terminology. However because Lamar refuses to acknowledge racism is at work in city government my posting was deleted but thew little White Girls admonishing me for my ways was allowed to remain.”

    “M said…
Anonymous, can you PLEASE curb your ignorant, racist negativity? It adds nothing to the conversation. Why didn’t you leave your comment at the first two sentences? You should edit yourself. Reverse racism is the fault of white men like you who do their best to enflame the ire of people of color. (Pisses me off too, and I’m a white girl!)”

  16. The post by “anonymous” I responded to is indeed still under the Roosevelt Johnson heading below, so I don’t know why the guy is bellyaching to Lamar for deleting anything. (I’m sure we’re now in for another tirade about my white guilt, blind support of Lamar, and general stupidity.) Here’s the quote I responded to:

“Good guy but you know where they finish. Don’t think he is in the inner-circle so could be somewhat independent. A black can never be totally independent – the hatred for Whitey is inbreed no matter how much they deny it.

Remember everything is the Whtie Man’s fault.”

  17. I agree that there is not much racial diversity within the blog areas. And some of these comments can be somewhat offensive as they do not apply to all people of color… although I do love ribs and chicken.

Let me start by saying I am a Jacques Roy supporter because I feel he is the best man for the job and he has the passion and the vision to get in there and put Alexandria on track as far as growth and development.

It does bothers me to see the way that our town is divided between blacks and whites.

I attended the forum last night and over 50% of the questions posed to the candidates were somehow race related. Will minorities receive more contracts from the city? Is there a problem with polarization in Alexandria? Black folks sit around and whine and complain about the injustices done to them when instead they should be out there bidding for these contracts or receiving training so that their work can be as good as or better than that of the other person.

It is so embarassing to sit and listen to CFS and Mr. Fuller speak using words such as “bidniss”. And why can’t they get some dental work done – black folks do go to the dentist you know. I may be seen as a sellout or whatever but these are not the faces that I want representing me….. Jacques The Vote B/F

  18. Lamar- You deleted (dropped) the question on the escapee from the Sheriff dept and the fact he took a 2007 Durango with him when he went. The local news media use to print and broadcast stuff like this but now it just seems to fade away after a while.Just as you have done..
