Randolph Issues Statement About Cleco, Claims City…

Bottom Line…They all sat there and LIED…Ned, Delores, Kelvin. and Council. Boy are WE stupid. Why? Because we elected them. The sad part is, if Ned were to run again, he would most likely win.
-
FIRE THE DAMN LYING LAWYER.
-
Is it possible Everett didn’t know? YES! Is it possible Sanders did inform the council? YES – probably some, but not all. Is it possible Bridgett, former on paper law partner of Sanders knew? Most definitely!
Why all the drama????? 3 people sitting in that room are running for Mayor. Hasn’t anyone noticed that lately every council meeting has turned into a forum for making political speeches on what you would do if you were Mayor?
It even came out later in the ED committee when Roosevelt had to make his long winded comments prior to Lisa Harris presenting AREP.
Too bad the charter doesn’t require councilmen and staff to resign from their posts as soon as they declare their candidacy.
Too bad the FBI still hasn’t shown up at BB’s doorstep.
-
Didnt these guys give depositions? If so can we see them. ?
-
“Too bad the FBI still hasn’t shown up at BB’s doorstep.”
It’s coming Brown…”You called down the thunder, now taste the lightning!”
-
Note to council and Bridgett Brown……
Baton Rouge does NOT rhyme with Fudge!!!!!!
-
We shall over come
-
well the town talk has written a pretty decent editorial about this situation:
Our View: Citizens stiffed as Alexandria, Cleco dawdle -
Once again personal feelings have clouded good old fashioned common sense.
Who cares about Bridget Brown, what she does and how she acts?! If we would look at this current situation, void of names and titles, the real issue would surface.
Do you honestly think that Randolph & Co. just happened to waltz in and around Baton Rouge and accidentally bump into these lawyers? Yeah right!
Even if they did meet by chance, the ball was in the mayor’s court to decline meeting with them until everyone (Brown, Sanders, etc.) could attend.
By him not doing so he further widened the gap that exists between the current administration and the city council
-
You’re right. Ignore the personalities and just look at the facts.
It’s a shame these people have such a hard time working with one another.
-
what tripe of an editorial. the delay has been entirely on the head of the city whose leaders cannot get out of their own way. What company would go into an audit process when the customer cannot even make up their mind about what they want. cleco has been ready for an audit by an INDEPENDENT auditor, not a set of charlatans who will make up problems to be sure they get some money. The contracts require approval of an INDEPENDENT auditor agreeable to both parties. Cleco excercising its rights is all they can do. Would any of you go into an audit with this crowd of duplicitous goofs without full protection. cleco has been ready for over a year to my knowledge. Remember who they are dealing with.
-
“Even if they did meet by chance, the ball was in the mayor’s court to decline meeting with them until everyone (Brown, Sanders, etc.) could attend.”
That’s a very good point, Myron.
-
So would an independent auditor be one who had worked FOR CLECO before and received MILLIONS of dollars from CLECO? Would that be your definition of INDEPENDENT?
-
How absurd. The mayor can meet with any of his lawyers when and were he wants. The lawyers are hired help. His conduct in talking to the BR lawyers was perfectly proper and certainly appropriate. Lawyer Brown was brought into the litigation because (1) she was the first one to call and (2) Kelvin Sanders, her office mate and former firm member thought that Alexandria needed some “local flavor”. If you recall, they also hired Phillip Hunter, a very experience local civil lawyer, who subsequently withdrew after he realized that this was all about sneaky fee splits. Maybe I’ll go to Southern Law School like gov. Foster.
-
“Kelvin Sanders, her office mate and former firm member thought that Alexandria needed some “local flavor”.”
It wasn’t local FLAVOR…it was local COLOR.
“Maybe I’ll go to Southern Law School like gov. Foster.”
It is my understanding that all law school graduates take the same bar exam to become licensed lawyers in La. You might want to lay off of the “Southern” thing…there are more lawyers in Alexandria (black AND white) that went to Southern than you realize.
-
the city accepted the auditor as INDEPENDENT through a process set forth by the judge. If they want to renege now, fine, but its the city incompetence that is causing the delay if they did not do their homework. Hey, pick another one, but the ball has been squarely in city’s court for way too long and the citizens are still waiting. No leadership at city is causing this. Cleco is ready to proceed in accordance with the rights specified in the contract for auditor agreeable to both parties. Has been ready for over a year. based on the demonstrated level of lawerying at city, I would not hold out great hope for quick resolution. City needs a leader.
-
Lack of Leadership or dishonest and disservice by legal counsel, Brown and the crooks on the counsil?
-
Aside from the professional ethics issue(s), competence, training, conflicts, and everything else, I just don’t understand the economics of having a very well compensated city attorney and then having to pay the Provosty Firm a fortune to make sure that Sanders doesn’t cut Randolph’s (and staff) throat.
-
its not just the provosty firm what about the baton rouge lawyers and dont forget the gold weems firm the mayor hired if you remember the gold firm is being sued for overbilling and fraud of epic proportions. its probably not that unreasonable to assume that just the legal fees the city has squandered would probably have already covered whatever if any money alexandria stands to recover from cleco.
-
I can understand hiring specialized firms to handle complex specialized litigation. My concern is that we are paying Albin Provosty to protect the administration from its own well-paid city attorney. Sanders has demonstrated that he is not on Randolph’s side on at least tow separate unrelated occassions this year. Why would Randolph keep a double-crossing lawyer in charge of his lawyering? If Sanders isn’t on our side do we really need him? And can we afford him?
-
lol albin provosty couldnt even find the alexandria housing authority charter. how competent can they be?
-
“Why would Randolph keep a double-crossing lawyer in charge of his lawyering?”
Your not from around here are you?
-
Again, then 8×10 glossy photos presented to the mayor weighed heavily in his choice for city attorney. Can you spell B-L-A-C-K-M-A-I-L. And you see the results.
-
To all you Delores haters ….
I agree that it seems Delores played loose with the facts surrounding their “chance” meeting with the CLECO lawyers in Baton Rouge. If this sin is enough for you to oppose her, that is your right and privelege. So who are you going to vote for?
Roosevelt Johnson: He’s never met a fact he could understand. Any issue that can be described in more than 3 words is too complicated. There’s more to running the city than love, heart and neighborhood. This is a $150,000,000+ business. When it comes to being a CEO, Roe makes a great cameraman.
John “I can be Mayor and Doctor at the same time” Sams: Why would the citizens want to pay the almost $100,000 a year salary for a part time Mayor? Sams would be great entertainment, but, in the long run, he’s not the one to lead the City. I think most people believe that in their hearts.
Charles Smith: If you want more of the same (Kelvin Sanders, Bridgette Brown, etc.), he’s your man. Whenever Mayor Smith is representing the City in front of potential out of town investors, he will need an interpreter. I’m not sure out of towners know where “Batawn Rudge” is and they have probably never read the “Home Room Charter”.
Joe “I’m waiting to see if I can get that other job” Fuller: The richest man in Rapides Parish that has no job. It’s amazing how Joe can travel and dress the way he does without drawing a salary. Most people say Joe can be bought. I think it’s easier to rent him.
Alice Hammond: Scary!
So, there’s the lineup. They all have their skeletons and scars. This election may not be about who’s the best. It may be about who’s the least worse. Sad, isn’t it?
If folks like Jay Bolen want to get into the race, now’s the time. The campaign money is quickly drying up.
-
“It may be about who’s the least worse”
It isn’t sad, it’s criminal.
-
And has no one realized that KELVIN has Added 2 completely new lawyers to ASSist HIM??? Unbelievable. WHY did he need to hire 2 women lawyers to ASSist him at City Hall?
-
“WHY did he need to hire 2 women lawyers to ASSist him at City Hall?”
Who are they? What are their names???
-
Tiffany Sanders: a very young outragiously beautiful black woman who used to be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader; and Laura Sylvester: a good lawyer.
-
If Tiffany and Laura are so good at their jobs can anyone tell me why they did not sit Mr. Sanders down and tell him NOT TO LIE on live television in front of his boss?????
-
Well, for some reason, it looked like Ms. Brown was the quarterback. And just about everything she said was highly dramatic and legally wrong. I think we are getting more local flavor than we can stand.
-
“I think we are getting more local flavor than we can stand.”
Local COLOR….not flavor.
-
Laura Sylvester? a good lawyer? On What damn planet?
-
When you make it about color you dilute and invalidate the argument. Ms. Brown was not wrong because she is black – she is wrong because she is stupid. She should not talk to her client like that, regardless of color. For some reason she appears to think that she will not be held responsible for her conduct and has the full protection of the council. Maybe she’s right. But Ned could fire her and Kelvin tomorrow if he had the best interests of the city at heart. Ned was a great mayor for so many years but he will be remembered for his last term characterized to total lack of courage and leadership. too bad
-
Why wouldn’t Tiffany tell Kelvin not to lie on live television???? Perhaps that is what she and BB were discussing in the copy room after the committee meeting was over …hmmmm makes you wonder.
And just who was Tiffany making a private phone call to after BB left the copy room???? talk about a soap opera!
Face the facts – IF there is any money owed to the citizens of Alexandria it will be soaked up by the attorney fees – I’ve lost count of how many there are now – and by Pugh & friends who get their half. What’s left for us? 2 cents????
-
I wish Randolph was more sensitive to the damage he is doing the Office of the Mayor. His successor is going to be left with a shattered toothless ineffective position courtesy of Randolph’s legacy. A real shame. He was a better man that that and we deserve a better man that that. Doesn’t Debra Randolph see what’s happening? 20 years in office and he is going to go out with a whimper – pity.
-
“When you make it about color you dilute and invalidate the argument. Ms. Brown was not wrong because she is black – she is wrong because she is stupid.”
You don’t get it, do you? You are just as naive as “they” hoped “you” would be. Do you think “Ms. Brown” was hired because of her legal abilities??? Uh…..no. She was hired because of who she knew. She knew “the right people” because she was black. Plain and simple. Alexandria is currently under black leadership. This will eventually change, either through elections or indictment, but for now the groids are in charge.
-
SHOW SOME BALLS NED. You are destroying this City by your ineptness . FIRE KELVIN SANDERS NOW just like ANY other competent Mayor would do. Damn, Fire Bridgett Brown NO Ned just like any competent Mayor would do. YOU want us to feel sorry for you well we did but if you continue to be a pussy about taking change then you can forget our appreciation. If you dont want to be Mayor then quit you will be an even bigger embarrassment if you do not get rid of Kelvin Sanders who just made you look like an abosulte FOOL.
-
I agree. Nice statement but put some damn teeth behind it. Why let these political terrorist destroy your legacy?
-
Ned has destroyed his legacy. 16 years of progressive growth and improvement thrown away by his inability to stand up and do the right thing. By his weakness he has allowed Alexandria to regress to a state worse that the Snyder era. Yes Ned is to blame. He is personally responsible and you who refuse to admit it are either blinded by denial or are part and parcel to the criminal acts going on. Ned Randolph has no honor.
-
He has 5 months left. WHAT does he gain by letting these uneducated thugs push him around? FIRE KELVIN SANDERS Monday Morning FIRST THING! He can show the Counsil the Damn Charter and explain to them that its the fucking law of the Mayors office NOT who the Mayor is. Get yourself a real LOYAL lawyer who recognizes that the Mayor is the client and tell Kelvin the Liar Sanders that if he repeats anything that he has atty client priviledge on that you will sue his ass and report hiim to the bar association . Then tell your counsil including the damn bus driver, the damn camerman , the damn anitor and the damn political Hack bar tender that this shit s going to stop or you are going to expose them all. 5 months. If you cant do it NED then get your Wife or your friend or your lawyer or someone to pull the strings for you . 5 months. are you going out like a MAN or a sissy? BE A MAN. WE VOTED FOR YOU . If you are afraid then gain courage from those who depend on you. …5 months..
-
What we are seeing is a repeat of History . Sheverport, Monroe, Lake Charles NOT OPINION, facts. When the city hit the skids with uneducated african american leadership the citys declined. Whites moved away, tax base shrunk , crime increased and sister cities grew. Not opinion , facts. Once it happens there is no return. Whites and their money does not return. SO. Call it whatever you want to call it. But if there was ever a crossroads for this city it is now. We must not let the Bropatrol take control of the Mayors office and we must demand that if they commit crimes that they be prosecuted. Not opinions. Facts.
-
I agree. He disrespected you and the office at the least and committed legal ethical violations at the worst.
-
And if Bridgett Violated ethics and Sanders assisted her then HE too is in violation of legal ethics. This is much bigger than even the appearance.
-
Put up the Cleco editorial from the other day. It says it exactly like it is. Cleco buying public officials and lawyers to help them hide the truth from the peopel they owe.
-
When was it published?
-
if its the same one – we linked to it up there ^^^^^
-
Someone get ahold of the advisory opinions that Chuck Fowler was talking about that he got from the Ethics Commission. I think they say that if you are an elected official you can not do business with people who get contracts with the City . If that is true then How can KElvin and Bridgette rent (which i think is business transaction ) from Myron Lawson?
-
Its on the Ethics web site. and YES it says just what you said. Neither Kelvin, Bridgette or Myron should be in business if Bridgett is getting contracts from the city.
-
“CHUCK FOWLER ON ETHICS” – he certainly has room to talk – all this ranting about the black councilmen and Fowler is the only guy caught red handed.
-
So FAR

Mrs. VAN DREESEN’S (Delores Brewer) CLASSROOM (Council Meeting)
Mrs. Van Dreesen (DB)— It’s ironic that we in this country who cherish freedom occasionally support governments who are less responsive to human rights. We’re very fortunate…..
Butthead(Bridgette Brown)— What’s your problem Beavis(Kelvin Sanders)? Settle down.
Mrs. Van Dreesen (DB)— …the strugle for freedom is by no means over. It still goes on today in places like….Alexandria,Louisiana… Nicaragua… El Salavdor… and Panama.
Beavis—(KS) (shirt over head) NIC..AR..A..GUA. Agua….Agua for my bunghole….bunnnghooooole!
Mrs. Van Dreesen(DB)— Beavis(KS)and Butthead (BB)! Please sit down…
Beavis(KS)— Are you threatening me? I AM CORNHOLIO!
Mrs. Van Dreesen (DB)— Come on Beavis(KS). Take your seat… Now, technically America is not a democracy but a republic….
Beavis(KS)— to Butthead(BB) …you have T.P.? T.P.? for my bunghole?
Butthead(BB)— Get out of here Beavis(KS).
Beavis(KS)— Ummmmmmm. Okay. Heh heh … heh heh…WALKS OUT OF CLASS I AM CORNHOLIO. I need T.P. for my bunghooooole………..

Wow. My first time reading Cenla’s dirty landry after leaving racist Alexandria, and moving to a real city. A place where the color of your skin is not an issue. I’ve read your racist remarks, and amazed to see that you’ve guys have slipped. The real problem here and the question you really want to ask yourself is – How in the hell did we let the city council become black? How did Kelvin Sanders become mayor? and Who in the hell let Bridget Brown learn to read! I will say to each of you good ole’ boys… you’ve got bigger problems… you’re getting ready to have a black mayor! Whohoo! I love it!
Did someone check on Dee Dee? it appears that her mouth had slightly twisted to the left in that clip… you know that clip? the beat down? Dee Dee you can’t lie in public like that and get away with it – How ironic! the Town Talk the racist Town Talk! told the truth (in fine print of course) about the big lie! Seen any episodes of LA Law lately! lol! this shit is better than the soaps!
