Mike Small (who seemed all smiles when I passed by him on Jackson Street a few hours ago) relied on the testimony of three expert witnesses to explain how the investigation was botched from the beginning. The evidence was destroyed the next day when the house was razed. The State’s “theory” about how the fire spread did not account for how the children died. One witness called this the worst fire investigation he’d ever seen. Another explained that the State’s theory about what caused the fire was based on an old wives tale.

You’re right. I didn’t know many of the specific details of the case until today. Did you know, for instance, that one of the motives suggested for these alleged murders is that Mrs. Hypes witnessed two of her children “simulating a sex act” the day before?
Either way, after reading Judge Johnson’s judgment and researching the back story and publicly-known facts concerning this case, it’s easy to see why this case rightfully crumbled. From day one, it was mismanaged and bungled. The evidence was pratically destroyed; therefore, there isn’t any physical evidence linking Hypes to the murders. It is possible, if not probable, that Mrs. Hypes spent the past four years of her life behind bars for a crime that she didn’t committ. Certainly the evidence that has been made public leaves the distinct impression that there’s plenty of reasonable doubt as to whether or not Mrs. Hypes committed murder.
Wow, it’s like Barney Fife was leading the DA investigation.
Regardless of innocence or guilt, Johnson was correct in his ruling. The Alex DA screwed the pooch and he knows it. Small knows how to present a case and how to destroy the cases of the state. Jam Downs and that crew should have known better.
I know a lot of the people i’ve come into contact from Tioga despise her, which while we don’t know the certainty of the incident, makes me sick. The rumors and minutae surrounding this case further sickens me because these people will make up any excuse to dislike her. From Satan worshiper to child molestor i’ve heard em all about this case.
She may have spent four years in jail for a crime that she didn’t commit. However, she is at least guilty of leaving her 3 small children home alone. Their death as a result of a fire she did not (or maybe did) start is her fault. I would not say that she is innocent, no matter how the investigation was handled.

What on earth would ever make a person think that any agency in Cenla is capable of running a professional investigation of anythinbg. All our public agencies know how to do is spend money and beg for more.
An innocent woman spent 4 years in jail based upon investigatory procedures not even recognized by the professionals in the field.
Same method of unprofessional investigation is evident everytime an Alexandria Dective asky you to take a polygraph test to prove your innocence. 2 things come to mind. 1: Not admissiable in Court.
2: I DON’T HAVE TO PROVE MY INNOCENT ASSHOLE YOU HAVE TO PROVE MY GUILT. DON’T ASK ME TO HELP YOU SEND ME TO JAIL. The illeterate APD Dectives think intelligent people are going to fall for this ruse.

I was referring to a paper published by the University of Arizona that included Mrs. Hypes’ story.
that story might have been first published by an ohio newspaper – when we stumbled across it a few months ago it had been republished by a homeschooling magazine.
A-ha. Yeah, it was just referenced in the paper I read. It makes sense that it was originally a newspaper article.
I worked with Amanda briefly in Durham NC when she was here with her current husband, Josh. She was a really sweet girl, and I just cant imagine her ever hurting anyone, especially her own children.
Wow, looks like you all spoke too soon. Botched investigations, Barney fife, will never be heard from again, to ooops, the supreme court says the only idiots in this TRIPLE homicide case over a slap on the wrist paper shuffle mistake was the mistake. Once this case gets to a jury, which Mike Small doesn’t want, it will blow wide open. Everyones mouth will drop at some of the stuff that the investigation has uncovered.
Mike Small did good in his attempt to belittle the case by having his “experts” testify AFTER Judge Johnson stated the two most valuable prosecuting witnesses couldn’t testify. Its easy to claim its the worse fire investigation that you have ever seen and plaster that comment over the front page of the paper when NO ONE ELSE IS ALLOWED TO TESTIFY AGAINST THEM. One sided arguments are always easy to win.

I have known Amanda for many many years. When I was told the children died in the fire my first question was how about Amanda? I was told she made it, and from that very second I knew without a DOUBT in my mind that she done this. She wants everyone to think she is a sweet girl, and she actually does a good job at leading people to believe she really is. She is related to the devil in my eyes. I don’t have a doubt in my mind she is very capable of doing this and I believe she did.
I have known Amanda since 1990 or so, She was a crazy ass then. You never knew when she would do something stupid or not. She had a short temper and did crazy stuff when she was mad. I have seen it with my own eyes. The boy that was killed was my cousins son. I grew up with him and remembered when Luke was born. I have seen it. Innocent ? Hell no. Crazy? Hell yes. Before anyone lets her off the hook just yet, You real ought to know what she is capable of. That is’nt the ony thing she has done in her life that was messed up.
