  1. It’s a shame that none of the media in town saw fit to report that WMDs were indeed FOUND in Iraq according to a report that was declassified yesterday. FIVE HUNDRED of them and counting!

  2. It’s hard to rejoice, Ben. Quotes from the article:

“The weapons are thought to be manufactured before 1991 so they would not be proof of an ongoing WMD program in the 1990s.”

“Offering the official administration response to FOX News, a senior Defense Department official pointed out that the chemical weapons were not in useable conditions.

“This does not reflect a capacity that was built up after 1991,” the official said, adding the munitions “are not the WMDs this country and the rest of the world believed Iraq had, and not the WMDs for which this country went to war.””

  3. LMAO @ a faux news cite. everyone knows faux news is the bush crime families goebbelsque propaganda mouth piece. faux news is about as credible as a supermarket tabloid.

  4. Typical left wing wacko response “we” They are indeed WMDs however, and they’re not finished with the search as yet. You seem to forget the strong probability that Saddam shipped the larger stash out of the country before we went in since he had plenty of warning.

Regarding Foxnews, it’s as reliable a news source as any you can name. CNN is the biggest joke around.

  5. Anyone who cannot see the dangers this country posed to the region and perhaps the world just can’t be in touch with reality. Common sense says anyone who hated us as Saddam did would have done anything necessary to give weapons to terrorists.

  6. why would saddam hate us? the united states is the ones who put him in power and gave him the WMD’s to start with. you fall for the bush crime family b.s. line that they hate us for our freedoms what freedoms? the fact is is that we americans arent free and havent been for sometime.

  7. What is so predictable is the left wing crap that you’ve bought in on for the past 25 years. Now that we have alternative news sources, the left wing blame America first crowd has competition and we don’t have to listen to the crap that Communist News Network feeds to its sheeple.

  8. Why did Saddam hate us? You’re kidding right? I guess you’ve already forgotten the Gulf War? It was in all the papers, how Saddam invaded his neighbor Kuwait, raped/killed/plundered. Google it if your memory is bad. The UN called, we provided most of the aid to kick his sorry ass out of Kuwait…granted we should have finished the job then, but that’s another story.

  9. the gulf war was another illegal and immoral war that no one knows why we were there in the first place.

  10. lol try removing the timber in your own eye before you comment on the mote (or what you perceive to be the mote) in your neighbors 😉

  11. The only timber is the what’s between your ears. When you get educated I’ll come back and we can exchange witicisms. I can’t continue to waste time on ignorance that can’t be cured. Yours.

  12. I love how a thread on KALB’s Video Blog somehow morphed into a debate on the War in Iraq.

I’ve read a few books on the first Gulf War, and, although this doesn’t make me an expert, I know there are a number of important facts missing from the discussion.

First, it’s not like Kuwait’s government wasn’t filled with the same types of crony monarchs that rule the rest of the Middle East. From Wikipedia: “After being allied with Iraq during the Iran-Iraq War until its end in 1988 (Kuwait paid Iraq to protect it from what it perceived as a threat posed by Iran), Kuwait was invaded and annexed by Iraq (under Saddam Hussein) on August 2, 1990. Hussein’s primary justifications included a charge that Kuwaiti territory was in fact an Iraqi province, and that annexation was retaliation for “economic warfare” Kuwait had allegedly waged through slant drilling into oil supplies on Iraqi territories. The monarchy was deposed after annexation, and a new Kuwaiti governor was installed by Saddam Hussein.” It’s worth noting that the United States gave Hussein implicit permission to invade Kuwait via the CIA. However, the US also communicated with the Kuwatis as well, and obviously, they decided the best decision was to form an alliance with Kuwait. They’re an oil rich country, and despite the fact that Rumsfeld and Company had dealt with Hussein for years, they probably considered control over Kuwait a better strategy than continuing their relationship with Saddam, who is obviously insane.

This isn’t a Blame America First argument.

I’ll post a link to Wikipedia’s entry on the Persian Gulf War. It’s fascinating.

  13. The problem with Wikipedia is that any fool can put information in there. Looks as if someone has.

  14. The burden of proof is on your side: tell us exactly what you disagree with, and then forward me sources that back up your claims.

  15. Hey guys, break out the map and see the strategic importance of Kuwait. Furthermore, a total advance to Bagdad in the first gulf war would have made it necessary to occupy the country after creating a power vacuum instead of using the natural tension between Iran and Iraq to stabilize the region militarily – notice no other neighboring country took advantage of conflict aftermath because both countries maintained large standing armies. Afghanistan had to fall first to flank Iran. Much of Saddam’s energy was focused on the Iranian threat and insured our swift control when the time was right. The endgame is the fall of Iran and the squelching of the Muslim-terrorist threat. We are currently in a holding pattern while alliances are assessed. Consider our presence in Germany, Japan and South Korea to temper your view as to when we will be leaving Iraq. It ain’t happening anytime soon.
