According to my sources, long-time KALB assignment editor Babs Zimmerman has left KALB to become KLAX’s news director.

She was horrible at kalb. Who watches klax?

KLAX is building a news department and we should all be thankful… competition is good for everyone.

klax already had a kick ass news department back in the late 80s early 90s and no one would watch it because everyone around here is brainwashed into watching kalb and reading the town talk.

    Hey WeSawThat:

Q: What was the former name of Marye Street?

    A: Town Talk Street.

    No lie.

yeah, WESAWTHAT, I used to watch that Kick Ass News on KLAX. I agree…..they couldn’t compete with the entrenched competition. And to Anon 8:33, Babs is not horrible……..she’s smart and knows her stuff. She’s just not photogenic or glamorous. Her talents will be well used in building a new NEWS department over there. Good luck to her! I hope it works this time.

I’m excited to see what Babs will bring to KLAX; competition IS good, and hopefully, they will have news anchors who actually REPORT. I wonder if Frances Yeager is going to be a part of the news department?

Charlie789- Nobody believes you anyhow.Esp after your other blogs..

I am sure that Babs will discredit any news agency that she works for. She is a very biased reporter who is more interested in her own social standing than in providing news to the public. Have no fear, however, because KALB has plenty more like her.

Anon 9:52 – what are you talking about?? I don’t care if anyone believes that I’m excited KLAX is going to have a news team; it’s my opinion. Aren’t people allowed to have that? As far as my blog…have you read it? Because I don’t pretend to be unbiased, and I don’t say anything that isn’t the truth. Hmm…Anyway, I’ve been getting tired of KALB’s monopoly, and I’m glad that I’ll have a CHOICE about which newschannel I watch.

Charlie- Babs is a nice lady. You’ld be better off listening to the radio. Your opinion is way off. You are as biased as they come. That’s proven by your other blogs. Do us a favor and just listen to the radio dude.

Babs is good and will be great for KLAX…I hope KLAX does a morning show as Jambalaya is pathetic. Nick is great but Melinda likes herself too much and goes on and on and on and on………kicking that crossed leg and all..also, she dresses too casual and there is Nick with a nice suit on……I have to just turn it off! Bring back Frannie!

nick mick = yummy weather dude

Nick should replace Konvicka as chief weather dude. Much easier to understand and nicer to look at.

Hey, I like watching Melinda and Nick in the morning. You never can tell what Melinda is going to come up with, and Nick is the perfect straight man. Melinda has to grow on you, but she is entertaining.

I could never stand Babs on KALB when they bring her in to do the “important” stories because of her “connections.” Maybe her days of giving away stray animals on tv ruined her credibility for me or it could be the lisp in her voice or her horrible on screen appearance or her annoying attitude. I’m glad that KLAX will finally give KALB some competition. ABC has been giving NBC a run for their money nationally with their programming but the picture quality at KLAX is significantly lacking compared to the equipment at KALB, speaking as one who’s been behind the scenes at both operations. I tried selling ads for a local show I produced on KLAX which proved to be quite a challenge. The typical response of businesses in town was “who watches that?” I wish KLAX the best because this new deal with KALB owning the NBC and CBS franchises stinks. What ever happened to anti-trust laws? Competition spurs quality. We’ll just have to wait and see.
