Roy V. Brewer: KSYL Radio Debate
The most confrontational conversation thus far in the Alexandria Mayor’s Race.
- Roy disputes Brewer’s claims on CLECO, line-by-line. Brewer concedes that she doesn’t speak “legalese,” but would still cancel the contracts. (Please forgive me for editorializing: No, caller, Mr. Roy wasn’t being arrogant. He was defending the truth, and if you’ve followed this election, then you’d know that Mrs. Brewer’s campaign has repeatedly and consistently claimed that EMS is receiving HALF of the money the City could receive from CLECO. Today, she stated on the radio, despite what she is currently broadcasting on television, that her signature appeared on the fact sheet that reduced EMS’s fee from 50% to 20%. That’s right. She admitted that she KNEW that EMS’s fee had been reduced, yet she’s still sending mail-outs and saying on television that EMS’s fee is between 85% and 50%).
- Brewer claims George Bush has done a “great job.” (I know it’s not relevant, but I mean… GREAT JOB? REALLY?)
- Roy: Do Away With Duplicative Contracts (Up to the Tune of $1 Million/Year).
- Brewer on Negative Campaigning: “There needs to be healing, and I want to personally apologize to the people (for any hurt caused by the negative campaigning).”

Lamar, I listened to the entire thing, and I think Brewer kind of recognizes what is probably going to happen on Tuesday… and maybe that is why she is acting so schizophrenic. She doesn’t mind lying or grandstanding because she thinks she doesn’t have anything to lose.
Is it just me or did Jacques Roy basically prove that Delores Brewer committed mail fraud in this election?
I felt a little bit of pity for her after the KALB conversation, because she looked and sounded so terrible. I am glad that I listened to the KSYL interview and remembered what kind of person we are having to deal with. The woman would not even shut her mouth long enough to let Jacques answer one of her idiotic questions. Fortunately, she will reap what she has sown in her campaign of lies and deceit.
The article in this morning’s Town Talk is the final nail in the coffin. If a good friend and colleague can’t endorse her, why the hell would I vote for her?
Ned and John Brewer have been close friends since they were in high school together. I think that there is definitely more than just “politics as usual” going on here……..it’s more like a real breach of common decency and ethics on DB’s part…….something so offensive and dirty that it transcends the usual smarmy political image that comes with that phrase. It’s worse. Dirtier. And sadder. Esp. considering that Ned is ill now.
Question to any lawyers out there, or you, Lamar (you are quite intelligent and well versed in legal issues): Does mail fraud come under federal or state law, or both?
MAIL FRAUD – 18 U.S.C. 1341, makes it a Federal crime or offense for anyone to use the United States mails in carrying out a scheme to defraud.
“it’s more like a real breach of common decency and ethics on DB’s part…….something so offensive and dirty that it transcends the usual smarmy political image that comes with that phrase. It’s worse. Dirtier. And sadder. Esp. considering that Ned is ill now.”
very well put. thank you.
that article really blew my mind. this election has been such a ride, just when you think everything has calmed down a bit, BAM!
Brewer on Negative Campaigning: “There needs to be healing, and I want to personally apologize to the people (for any hurt caused by the negative campaigning).”
Classic, just classic. A little too late, right? And the negative is STILL in our faces everyday on TV and in print. HELLO?!!
