One of the things I find interesting about a blog is that you can write anything you want. It doesn’t make any difference if what is written is true or not and the worse you can make someone look the better. Some people are so bitter about Sams and have their own personal agenda. The sad thing is that some people will believe the lies and never bother to find out on their own.

Yes, the “personal agenda” is to get the truth out to the whole city. This forum has allowed people to do so anonymously, and therefore not incur the ridiculous and often pointless wrath of John Sams.
Other candidates get comments like “oh, she’s not too bright” or “he’s much too young.” Compare that to the harsh words said about Sams. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of intelligent, HARD WORKING, responsible, moral people in this city that loathe him. It’s not because he “busted” them for not doing something right, it’s because of his own heinous behavior. He is reaping what he has sown. It’s coming around. I, for one, am enjoying the payback.

As a patient you have an option to change doctors when you disagree with his treatment of you as a patient – meaning his demeanor towards you, questions whether he is providing the best treatment for you, etc.
As a citizen, the only recourse would be to start a recall petition or move out of the city limits.
Either way – there are options. I don’t think it’s called hating, it’s called making a choice about what’s right for you.

I agree…..Sams is rude and obnoxious. He loses sight of the issues because he’s too worried about “winning.” I’d like to hear his “fans” name some good things he’s done as a school board member. Specific things.

The avenue to remove Alexandria city officials is to file suit for cause. There is no recall petition or recall effort required.

Sams seems to think that holding the school board position qualifies him for mayor. Perhaps that would be true had he worked in that position for the good of the school system, or the good of his own district, but he did not. More often that not, he voted against his own district and caused discord at every turn. The facts are the facts. And the facts, his own given record as board member, clearly show that he is not qualified to be our mayor.

Sams has a distinguished academic career that is stronger than any candidate in the race…Sams has a distinguished military career…Sams has a stellar career in public service as a physician. Sams has made significant improvements to school board such as the savings of millions of dollars when the former bussing system was updated at his design and initiative. Plus he is running an issues oriented and positive campaign.

Sams is quickly becoming a non factor in this race. He is the only candidate whose poll numbers went down rather than up since the first poll was conducted by one of the candidates. From 13% in the Spring to 6% in August. Surely this is because most people are recognizing that he is no more than a radical “fringe” candidate. Every time he opens his mouth at a forum, he does more harm than good to himself. TV spots are the worst quality with the least effective message I’ve ever seen here. Who did these awful things? The cable company?

Sams ads are far better than the DB ads. You have to be kidding me…Sams has added and grown his base and has my vote. Let me tell you those polls are not worth pissing on…and most importantly Sams would do the best job. Closest thing to a cure for corruption is the best line of the entire campaign for the record.

I disagree with the guy about Sams ads…I am not inside the city so I am a bit out of the boundry of voting. Sams has the best ads by far. He has run an issues based race and been very positive. The tone of some of the posters on here is overtly hateful and tied to campaigsn most likely…but as an outsider..Sams would have my vote and has impressed my friends in town thus far.

Reading some of the trash comments people make tells you it is some guy working for one of the campaigns on here trashing John Sams….Sams ads are excellent and deliver a real message so someone tell the naysaysers to take a rest. He has my vote.

I started out thinking Sams was a good guy. He lost me when he: 1) chose to pick on our current mayor. Ned Randolph has never been and never will be corrupt. When you serve for 20 years, yes, there will be some people working for you that have to be dismissed. That does not make him personally corrupt. 2) proposed to tear down city hall and purchase the Hotel Bentley to turn it into city hall. What a dumb idea. The historic Hotel Bentley needs to be reopened as a hotel and venue for events. Thank goodness other people were already working on that project. 3) told Michelle Godard in his KALB-TV blog interview that his biggest weakness is that he is sooo inteligent and that makes it difficult for him to work with others who are not. 4)wore a fish print shirt for that interview

I was at each forum. He did not say the black organization was polarized he said the city race relations were. Please stop reaching…He never said Ned Randolph and to me was referring to people like DB and the Alexandria housing authority scandal and corruption. That is a big reach about Ned too…especially when he never said Ned’s name. sad you guys are so quick to make up shit.

I’m not with anyone’s campaign. And I have said bad things about Sams. They are the truth. No matter who he is running against, I’d be voting for someone else. You people are being bulldozed by Sams’ comments and promises. If you believe them after all the horrible things that man has done, then you deserve what you get if he gets elected. Of course, if you’re one of his “booty buddies” and agree with everything he says and does, then you’ll be OK. It’s only people that have their own opinion that Sams has a problem with.

John Sams might not be running negative ads for the public to see, but, trust me, he is running them on the streets, just like always. And, no, I wouldn’t even call him the “anti-Christ;” this man doesn’t deserve to have Christ anywhere near his name, even negatively.

Sams does not, I repeat, does not represent change and has not been running on the “issues.” Sams is no different than any other politician: He will impose his will and agenda by supporting and promoting those who are sympathetic to his issues. At the same time he rolls over those opposed to him like a Sherman tank. Right or wrong, Sams will bully us over to his way. People will not accept it but Bolton is a microcosm of what Sams will due to Alexandria.

If Dr. Sams is so smart, why doesn’t he realize his neighbors in Park Place don’t appreciate his letting his dog “go” in their yards. This is just another example of Dr. Sams’total disregard for other people. I wonder if he would support an ordinance mandating a fine for persons who continually allow their dogs to defecate on others’ property?

If Dr. Sams is elected mayor, will he treat residents of Alexandria as he treats his patients? Consider an elderly woman with numerous health problems whose daughter had the unmitigated audacity to question Dr. Sams’ plan of treatment for her mother. Dr. Sams sent her a letter delivered the very next day informing her that she was no longer his patient. He reminds me of a spoiled child who brings his basketball to the community play ground and expects everyone to play by his rules. If they don’t, he takes his ball and goes home. Do we really want four years of this type of “leadership” for Alexandria?

No, you may be the one smoking something. John Sams has taken care of people all his life. He has done charity work and even medical charity work but takes no credit and never mentions it. But some on here just hate and hate and hate…becuase of politics not facts.
John Sams is a good person. Face it…he is running a very solid campaign and has the best message in the race. I love his ads. DB has very staged looking ads and others are not running any ads so far…
I give him pretty high marks at this point.

In response to anonymous about John Sams being a good person. I rarely stoop to using dictionary definitions in my responses as I feel that is trite; however, it is fitting here. According to http://www.websters.com, the first definition for good is “morally excellent; virtuous; righteous; pious”–For years, John Sams has worked against some of the best people in our town, leaders who were doing their job, but who stood up to him, townsfolk like Greg O’Quinn, Charlie Weems, Richard Crowell and Lyle Hutchinson, to name a few. He went so far as to report these people on fraudulent charges and to harass them at every turn: morally excellent? I think not.
Another definition of good is:
“well-behaved”–certainly most of Alexandria can attest to this not being true. For a very specific example, think back to last year when the Superintendent named Brian Parmley as Assistant Principal of Bolton instead of Charlene Johnson, Sams’ inside ear. He got so angry that he argued with the superintendent, then stormed out, knocking both doors so loud that the meeting was paused. Look at the minutes from almost every board meeting where he is present: discord, not well-behaved at all.The last definition I will bring forward is “reliable; dependable; responsible”–it is not uncommon for John’s patients to be fired if they seek a consultation; they receive a letter from him, asking them not to return. That does make him a very reliable doctor. The only way in which he is dependable and reliable is in stirring things up and halting progress. He knows well how to destroy but cannot be relied upon for solutions. He is a vindictive, hateful, crude child. -
