Yes, true…if we could get someone to take us (Alexandria) seriously. Instead they see our clown sideshows and read the news from tacky media outlets. I am sure otherwise we would have a much better chance of catching someone’s attention. Alexandria has a great location. Alexandria just seems to be a few years behind most progressive cities of the same size. But, good things are coming down the pipe! So…I am crossing my fingers and not losing hope!

Finnegan’s Wake is high class. I love it. It is funny, even though I don’t drink, I have frequented the place a few times…mainly to share laughs with the owners. The building renovation was well done.

I know this might sound a bit negative, but if everyone who wants more to do in Alexandria would start going out more in Alex and quit driving to Lafayette, we’d likely have many more options develop here.

Finnegan’s hosts some pretty decent bands. In fact, I would submit that Finnegan’s is the only respectable bar in this city (Spirit’s is a restaurant first, bar second).

This is all fine and dandy for old folks but Alexandria has always lacked attractions for the younger crowd. We can’t even get decent concerts.

Not bad…

I would add in a drive just south of Marksville to Mansura and a stock up on Boudin from Lonas Kelone’s Grocery. Then if you are really wanting to find more of the culinary best of Louisiana, travel the country roads of Avoyelles a bit more into Cottonport for the best Hog’s Head Cheese you can find from T-Jims.
