Complain about voter turnout as you may. Having returned from out of town and visiting with people who have held off investing in Louisiana, I can tell you there is now a sudden interest to reconsider. People are excited about our new Governor. They had lots of questions after hearing about him on national news. While they had nothing bad to say about the outgoing Governor, other than a few comments on her handling of Katrina, the excitement and chance to have ethics reform and a chance for a new Louisiana seems to be enough for them to put us back on theri radar in terms of new investment, which means new jobs and growth for our economy.

I can't say I'd be hearing these same words if anyone else had been elected, except for possibly Georges.

There is still great concern over corruption in New Orleans with almost every day a new politician or official making headlines. This only means the dollars will flow to areas of the state where investors feel comfortable. Unfortunately Alexandria is in the news too much lately with the ongoing battles between the Council and the Administration. As a result, we may miss new opportunities. Our leaders need to understand their actions had a greater impact than just creating frustration among the voters they represent, today, with electronic media and global news, everyone knows what is going on with the Jena 6 and the Alexandria Mayor vs the Alexandria City Council.
